Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Director of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S). This position is located on the University of Nevada, Reno main campus and reports directly to the Associate Vice President, Research Administration.

This position is responsible for leadership and management of the Occupational Health and Safety program within the Environmental Health and Safety Department (EH&S). The Occupation Health and Safety program includes industrial hygiene, asbestos and lead management, occupational safety, emergency planning, and occupational injury/accident investigation.

The Occupational Health and Safety Manager provides budget planning and projection, strategic planning, and staff supervision for the program, and may serve on University committees to represent EH&S. The Occupational Health and Safety Manager is part of the EH&S leadership team and works cooperatively with other EH&S managers and the EH&S Director to lead, manage, and improve the department.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of related professional work experience OR
Master's Degree and 3 years of related professional work experience.

Related professional work experience consists of Management and hands-on experience with environmental health and safety programs with significant responsibility for occupational health and safety programs including the following areas: industrial hygiene; asbestos and lead management; occupational safety such as, but not limited to, electrical safety, hot work, elevated work surfaces, lock out/tag out, and machine shop safety; and safety training.

Preferred Qualifications
Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or an Asbestos license, or other related safety professional certifications.

Experience in a university academic research or other government research facility.

Certification and Licensure:
A successful candidate will have a Nevada class C driver's license.

Compensation Grade:
Administrative Faculty - C
