Summary


The Public Health Project Manager will lead the process of conducting community health assessments (CHA), community health improvement plans (CHIP) and other assessment and strategic projects. This individual will work closely with local stakeholders, community members, and public health professionals to assess the health needs and priorities of the community, identify health disparities, and develop strategic plans for improving overall community health and well-being. The project manager will ensure that the process is inclusive, collaborative, and data driven.

Essential Functions


  • Facilitate Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) Processes: Lead the community health assessment using the MAPP 2.0 framework, ensuring all key phases (organize for success, visioning, assess community health, identify strategic issues, formulate action plans, and evaluate progress) are implemented effectively.
  • Community Engagement: Engage diverse community stakeholders, including residents, healthcare providers, local government officials, non-profit organizations, and other community-based organizations, ensuring a broad range of perspectives and voices are included.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee the collection and analysis of both qualitative and quantitative data, including health surveys, focus groups, key informant interviews. The project manager will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing existing community health data to identify key health indicators and trends.
  • Facilitate Meetings and Workshops: Organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and focus groups to gather input, build consensus, and share findings from the assessment process.
  • Report Development: Compile and synthesize data to produce clear, actionable reports that outline community health priorities, strategic issues, and recommendations for intervention.
  • Strategic Planning Support: Work with community partners to develop evidence-based action plans and strategies that address identified health needs and disparities, and outline steps for implementation and evaluation.
  • Capacity Building: Provide technical assistance and support to community members and stakeholders in developing the skills and knowledge needed to sustain the assessment process and subsequent health improvement efforts.
  • Communication and Outreach: Develop and distribute communication materials to keep the community informed about the progress of the health assessment and engage stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Evaluation and Feedback: Develop mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the health assessment process and ongoing community health improvement efforts.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Work within a team of project managers to accomplish shared goals while also overseeing the work of graduate students who contribute to the projects as part of their assistantship.
  • All other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications


The following degree is required:
  • Bachelor's Degree. Degree must be conferred at time of application.


The following Degree is preferred:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Community Health, Social Work, Public Administration, or a related field
  • A Master's Degree

The following Experience is required:
  • 3 years of experience in public health research or community health assessment
  • 1 years of Project Management experience
  • 1 year of Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing
The following Experience is preferred:
  • Experience with MAPP 2.0 or other community health assessment frameworks preferred
  • Experience with participatory approaches to community assessment and planning
  • Experience with report writing or data visualization for public consumption



Additional Information

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, including the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Excel, or similar software).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
  • Knowledge of community health issues, disparities, and social determinants of health.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong experience in working with diverse community groups and stakeholders.
  • Ability to present data and findings in a clear and actionable manner using visualization tools
  • Familiarity with public health policy development, strategic planning, and program evaluation methodologies.


Position Schedule: Full-time position with an option for a flexible/hybrid work schedule (remote/on campus). Work location: Bowling Green, Ohio.
